Hey everyone, just bought the RTX 5070 (had the 3080 - 10gig before). Just finished installing it, made sure to use 3 different PCIe power cables with the adapter as instructed, reconnected all the cables (using display port currently), then turned on the power, saw the red light but red this can be normal when idle so I hit the power button, red light turned off, computer started up and! Nothing on the screen. Completely blank.

Not sure what's happening. Everything was working fine with the 3080 and was just a simple swap and two extra cables added since you can't use splits.

I also added in a y-cable for the usb ports on the front of the tower and a new 4tb M.2 SSD (not showing but looking into that)

Okay. So here are the cables. 2 are newly added for their adapter.

I removed the 5070 and put back in the 3080, connected the two new cables. Turned the computer back on and I've got a screen again.

Does this mean the card is defective or could there be something else I'm missing?

Are there new power cables for the newer video cards that I should get instead of using the 3 different cables with the adapter?

I also contacted Asus cause I have no idea what else to do at this point in time and they say I should do a RMA/Repair which, once arrived, will take 7-10 business days for them to check whats wrong meaning I would likely be waiting a month for the repaired/replaced card. Also need to point out this is the 2nd card I've ordered of the 5070, the first was damaged during delivery.

So before I waste another month on a card I apprerently am never going to use, does anyone else have any suggestions I can try before I just give up?

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard?

Drop the RTX 5070 into a donor system (on your friend's or neighbors), with a reliably built 850W unit at the entire system's disposal and see if the issue persists. If the issue persists, then it's the card. If it doesn't it's your motherboard, most likely.

Sorry, somehow I didn't see your second response there. Unfortunately I don't have access to another computer, neighbor or friends. :/

You have BIOS updates pending. Make sure you're on the latest chipset driver for your platform, then flash to the latest version. Please read the instructions the BIOS page before you update.

Okay, so I updated everything for the motherboard including the bios. It's 1am now (here I thought this would only take an hour tops) so I'll test the video card in the morning and see what happens.
