I've finished my final play through of The Last of Us Part II on Grounded +. In this game NG+ has a mix of carrying over all your weapon upgrades, and also puts weapons in your inventory before the point they get unlocked in the game, but also has harder enemy AI. This was the only mode I was beaten by Abby in the final fight, twice in fact, though I prevailed the 3rd try. I was able to pull off the best sneaks I'd ever done in this mode in certain spots, but there was also some tough battles and narrow escapes after alerting enemies.

I've been putting off going back to Ghostrunner 2 for some time, as the first section on the Cyberbike is very difficult with lots of tunnels you have to speed through, dodging hazards as you go. I play it on Keyboard and Mouse, and what's worse is the bike steers a bit twitchy with keyboard. None the less, I got through that section and found that the outdoor sections on the bike that follow are quite fun. You have more room to move, and there are a lot of ramps you can get good jump distance with when clearing unrideable gaps or merging left or right to other sections of highways with guardrails.

There's also laser obstacles that only hurt organic material, so Jack can jump off the bike, then tether back to it with the gap jammer. You can jump over other objects too, like the big bots that spray a wide lethal beam at you, then let the bike run into them and kill them. The bike also has front mounted guns that aid when there's swarms of hostile creatures in your path or enemies with guns. You can even use the jump-off-the-bike feature to get to some valuable items, like memory shards.

Ghostrunner 2 also brings in new creatures. The first game only had little crawly ones, this one adds some tentacle ones called Schismids that fling toxic blob bombs at you. They will also quickly burrow to another spot if you don't get to them quickly enough. Also Wheelmonks that ride sitting inside big one wheel machines that shred you into instant death if they touch you, though easy to dodge and they get stunned when running into something and can then be killed. And last but not least, a type of former human that was bioengineered to follow orders, sort of a zombie army. There are varying types of these, from unarmed ones that swat at you, to those that carry guns, some even with jet packs that fly, though I've not seen those yet.

The Cybervoid brings in some new puzzles that seem simple at first regarding a set number of different colored objects you destroy in a certain sequence, but instead of just making choices like the puzzles in GR1, you only have so much time to do it. It also has some timed platforming puzzles that can be a bit tricky. I'm still a bit green at getting to know and implementing the skills and MB upgrade chips. I may end up watching a tutorial video on it if I can find a good one. For now though I've got that good game vibe all over again, and am excited to see what's around every corner every time I launch it.

I finally finished Ghostrunner 2 a coupe days ago, wow, what an amazing and challenging game this is! The 2nd to last boss wasn't as hard as I first thought, but the final fight against the main villain was very difficult. I had more deaths on just that one fight than any of the biggest levels in the game, 314.

Last night I fired up Uncharted 4 from the Legacy of Thieves Collection. I had been putting off playing it for some time, but I was anxious to see how it looked and played on my new PC at max settings with HDR. With my prior PC there were always huge hitches in the very action heavy scenes where the game is supposed to seamlessly transition between cutscenes and gameplay, sometimes a bit of both via QTE.

So far I have played to the point where you're using a Jeep to look for a volcano, and I must say, the HDR is amazing, and it looks incredible at 4K max settings and 120 FPS, but the best thing is, it's playing pretty darn smooth as well so far. I've seen maybe like 3 times in crossing to other areas with no action or even platforming, a very subtle single micro hitch.

Fingers crossed that in those very action heavy scenes with the train and such the game stays smooth. Part of what might be making the game run better is it got patch 1.4 since I played it last. This is a game I can get lost in for hours, and I even sat through all the cutscenes in my session last night, not getting to bed until 6AM this morn.

Many issues with Starfield can be addressed by deleting pipeline.cache before playing. It'll recreate it in seconds.

In Windows search put
%LOCALAPPDATA%

Then go to
Starfield\pipeline.cache < delete file
With a new patch for the game, I wonder if this still works? however I've never had issues with missions in Starfield & have over 500 hrs playtime in it to date. Weird how one would navigate to that directory to fix many issues.

Probably wouldn't matter so much now but pipeline is a cache file and like anything else like apps on your phone or streaming service on a TV, clearing cache is what you'd typically do first if experience abnormal behaviours. The way the game is designed, accounting for every placement for items, it is handy to have somewhat easy access to an crucial file for troubleshooting, we know where and what it is. Other games isn't so easy to do that.

Wouldn't know if that fix actually worked, I did try it thou...but I like to keep playing some of the games that keep a clean running and no issues record.... and for that my latest favorite games where: GTA legacy story mode again, can't fault a playthrough of that, then I did plenty of hours in Dirt Rally 2.0, it's really awesome playing at 144fps vsync'd... then I bought Watch dogs 2, and made a playthrough of that!

Thou fun gaming it was, highly recommended games...

I deleted my Enhanced edition of GTA V, doesn't want to run on my pc... And the Watch dogs 2 game took me a few boots to get into, but then it really got fun, I did use a trainer for this game, can't see it being playable otherwise.

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time

I'm not a fan of Life Sims or anything like Animal Crossing or anything like that but the original on the 3DS while starting slow really sucked me in and was probably one of the few games I have triple digits on.

Super bummed when I sold my Switch that I wouldn't be able to play this whenever it finally came out, surprise and it's on the PC.

Such a blast and step back from all major releases I had been playing. No regrets at all.

Warhammer 40k Inquisitor Martyr

I picked this up on Steam sale for 90% off as I'm a 40k fan. Lots of fun trying out all the different weapons. Inferno pistol and chainsword are my current favorite tools to purge the heretics.

Favorite pc games lately, thus only favorite because I could play them in a fashion that suited me, and got to the completion of said games timely: Great gaming sure, RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 from start to finish such a sweet game, I could probably do more in there but ending the playthrough on the completion of the quest American Venom @ 81% called for a game well played, this time only things I missed was the bonus Rhodes bank robbery and the Micha stagecoach holdup near the swamps, funny I actually wanted to do those but when I simply passed by the living room where the Saint Denis bank robbery mission that causes all the fuss and the next chapter 5 starts, the game instantly entered into that mission with Dutch and Hosea talking about it, and that caused me to miss some content seeing as I was well played to then do that whole section later that same session, Edit: played about for fourteen days, and that's with two days of rest split throughout the playthrough, that did help not busting the keyboard playable fingers whilst doing so, oh and My take was $15000 roughly give or take a couple of dollars with Arthur, plus the take at the end of American venom that John gets on top of that.

Then I loaded Up Carmageddon: Max Damage again, and set forth on a playthrough of that, besides a couple of crashes and bugs, still managed to have a complete playthrough of said game in 18 hours, easy legend haha sure was a fun game to play again, still wondering if there can't be something done to make that run better, but I'd rather play than mess with the game.

Damn, now I'm at the part I love and hate simultaneously, having finished a game and picking something else to become favorite to play... oh what could it be?

A playstation 2 game that is online, really was that possible? that probably not what they meant with that right?

Sega Dreamcast had an optional modem. So did the PS1 if I recall (maybe Japan exclusive). Not very many games were online, but there were a few in those days.

I guess I am learning this today, but Everquest was available on the PS2. Phantasy Star Online was a hit on the Dreamcast. I remember people getting obsessed with it.

That's interesting to hear never did I think anything before say PS3 & the original Xbox was online capable.

Thinking on what you said those times must have been a blast for people that had access to those devices and could use all the capabilities.

I was very dismissive of the early consoles, and MMOs in general, since PC graphics were quite a few steps ahead back then. This was the age of the LAN party for the PC crowd since dial-up wasn't suitable for the FPS shooters of the time. The ports to consoles were generally a massive compromise on content and graphics and even relatively cheap GPUs of the day were on par or better than the consoles. I would say PS3 and XBox 360 were the massive kick off to console vs PC being a more legitimate comparison. PS2 gets a strong mention, but it was certainly more prevalent because of the DVD player aspect.

Well, while I was never one of the elite with any kind of online service myself, PS3 and Original Xbox are not even close to the first.

Just started playing AC Shadows since I am a big AC fan and I hope it turns out to be one of my favorite games since the good easily seems to outweigh the bad in this game.

Just had a great time even though it's quite the challenge to replay games that are known in these games:

Cyberpunk 2077, from the start till quest 123, yeah everything that showed up in the journal besides the side missions this time, the goons that tried to kill V just before the heist, was quite the challenge this time, but with playtime adding up my V got stronger and the balance of play seemed to normalize, favorite game for sure.

Whilst I was downloading some steam sales games just bought thought I play a shorter game in the name of Thief, another of my favorite games managed to play through in 7 hours including the bank heist, not playing the basso jobs. this time I played it in 4K, ran pretty smooth!

Now I'm still downloading some games still, might do some more as far as my harddrive space remains, and I'm hitting it up in the F1 2024 team career, it's funny at first I thought the game had me play with the default livery and it looked white to me, only now that I'm a few more races in, doing it on short race distance with only some races with the sprints, qualifying and the race, anyway what was I saying, oh right the livery appears different in changing weather, baffling as that smooth racing and great visuals and audio, in my current favorite game, I reckon I'm only doing one season as for now...

The game I enjoyed the most in the past few years is Outward by a large margin.
There is a before and and after Outward. And I was like "Hmm, yeah, this game is cool, but I wished it was a bit more like Outward".
Although I'm aware the game is clunky, it reeks the cheap budget, but holy shit, for someone who has played games for almost 30 years, this was such a breath of fresh air (and talking about breath, Zelda Breath of the wild was a strong contender) with so many good ideas underexploited because of the lack of budget, that I felt the purest joy upon learning the developpers where working on an Outward 2. Because the second opus of a license is most of the time the best^^

Am currently playing Assassin's creed shadows and am having a blast with it. The graphics are utterly gorgeous with all settings almost maxed out and the gameplay is epic as usual. Just hate the horrendous Ubisoft connect launcher.

Wow I was just amazed at some proper gameplay in the form of my latest favorite game: MAD MAX!
Never did I think I'd like such a game, when I bought it years ago, I never played it, don't ask me why but just for the fun of it I opened it the other day just to see if would run and I was almost intently turned it to my favorite game to play for the last 12 days, and I did it all the entire game and everything it had to offer, very much fun and awesome game to play, but for some reason the AMD gpu overlay don't work whilst playing, but that did not bother to much, won't spoil it for anybody yet to play but this is a great game very well done, I enjoyed most of the content and the challenges.

Don't know how you managed to not hear the praise of the game unless you bought it after the buzz about it died down or intentionally avoided such news for fear of spoilers. It's definitely one of my fave games of all time and I wish they'd make another one.

Yeah I don't think I ever heard or read anything about this Mad Max game, I was probably at the time of release playing something else and so it happened that I wasn't looking for something new at the time, anyway like I said great game and the hand to hand combat is just awesome, now wondering if I could see it as a replay able game, maybe it would be. Another thing that shined in this game was the weather system and storms, although I would not like to see something like that in the real world in the game it brought such atmosphere to the play at hand.

Speaking of games not played yet when they where new hits, I Guese they are always to be stumbled Apon when least expected, unless of course your only ever playing the latest releases, but like you all know me I like to revisit favorite's all the time if possible, then one can easily be so entertained that a pc game hit doesn't hit when it's released, true that I'd say in most cases.

What game have you been playing recently? How did you find the experience of playing said game?

Any games you looking forward to? Why are you looking at those games?

Lately I've been playing Transistor which is pretty amazing - I would give it GOTY for the refreshing gameplay experience. I played some Always Sometimes Monsters which was pretty terrible to be perfectly honest - it felt like a horrible cheap shot RPG that punishes every choice you make unrealistically. I've just started to play Divinity and like every other RPG I haven't got my head around to how it works yet.

Right now I have my eyes set on Dragon Age: Inquisition - it's made by EA, so I'll be buying it after release 😉. Star Citizen looks pretty cool, but I'm not particularly interested in space sims - just the potential to advance PC graphics sounds amazing. I will very likely buy Sims 4 -> just for character creation (I'm a girl, after all). I haven't played Assassin's Creed, but the latest installment looks pretty neat with the co-op aspect.

How about the rest of you?
The game is probably older than most THG users.

Super Blackjack v5.8.0 1998 I purchased new. Cool trainer...
Yes it runs on Windows 11.

Yeah I keep wondering if there's a tolerable way for me to add replay value without making progress feel like too much of a grind. Usually when I've beaten the hardest mode of a game 2 or 3 times, I then try playing with no upgrades. That would be pretty hard to do in this game though because there's key things you need like Thunderpoons to progress. I think what I'd try though is just filling out the weapon types in the weapon wheel, but go no further than that as far as levels of weapons or skills. Even that would be pretty hard though because you'd be in a slow vehicle. Maybe I should search YT to see if anyone's come up with an acceptable no upgrades method for the game. I honestly would kind of miss the fighting skill upgrades you can give Max though, because it's cool to see how devastating he can be.
