Question Slow internet speed ?

hello i have a really bad and anoying problem. my PC has an internet speed of only 16mbps on WiFi while my laptop has a speed of 150mbps. I have no idea how i can fix this, I've tried al lot of things. ChatGPT told me but nothing worked.

Cpu:intel core i7 11700t
Gpu:rtx5070
motherboard:INTEL H511-VD4

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

Disk drive(s): make, model, capacity, how full?

List of all connected peripherals.

Wired and/or wireless network devices?

Make and model modem, router (or modem/router if combined)?

On the laptop run "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) via the Command Prompt. Post the full results.

You should be able to copy and paste the full results without needing to retype everything.

It would be helpful if you can outline the things "told you" by chatgpt.

Start by simply adding (type in) your system specs to your next post.

Try running "ipconfig /all" again and take a screenshot of the command and the results.

Post the screenshot here via imgur (www.imgur.com > green "New post" icon).

Have you tried connecting you pc via ethernet even if you need to run a cable over the floor or move the pc closer to the router.

This is mostly so you know if there is something wrong with the pc in general or if it is wifi problem.

The ipconfig you posted shows this is a USB based wifi adapter?. Do you know the model number of the device. If it is one of those extremely tiny ones and you plugged it in the back of the case the case might be blocking the wifi signal.

If you get 16mbps on a ethernet cable then I would first suspect the web browser. Do you have more than 1 browser installed so you can try a different one. You could also try a totally different speedtest site. There are a couple different ones. Most people use ookla but that are a couple other big ones.

After than you start suspecting some software that might be installed.

As suggested if you have a tiny usb adaper like this one, it's possible you have a very bad connection since the antenna is too small/blocked by pc case if on the back of pc

Connection speed never equals real world speed and depends on a lot of other factors like distance, noise, interference, antenna,...

what wifi extender have you tried?

Do you have line of sight? How far from the router?

Game download speed is NOT internet download speed, it can be throttled by game company.
