Hi

I have have installed my new RX 9070 along with a new PSU. My pc turns on but doesn't pass the RAM check (DRAM light stays on permanently) and there is no POST. Also there are no beeps from the motherboard speaker, the pc just stays on with the stuck DRAM light. System is AM4, AMD 5700x, Gigabyte B550 aorus elite, 32GB DDR4.

Tested the RX 9070 in another pc and it works. System AM4, AMD 5600x, Asus Rog Strix B550 A, 16GB DDR4.

I put the old 1080ti back into my PC and the pc works fine, passes the RAM check and loads into windows.

I have tried re-seating the RX 9070, checking the power connectors, cleared the Bios to no avail.

I am not sure what the issue could be, at this point I want to check for a BIOS update but that doesn't make sense.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

BIOS version for your motherboard? Make and model of your new PSU?

Did you run DDU in Safe Mode to remove all GPU drivers(Intel, AMD and Nvidia) before you swapped out GPU's?
Hi,

I'm not sure about my current bios version, I will have to get that when I'm back home. For your other questions

PSU is a Super flower leadex III 1000w

I did not uninstall any drivers before I inserted the new GPU, I was using a RTX 3070, then the 1080ti before I got the RX 9070.

The second system has my old PSU and the 1080ti. With the RX 9070 it booted into windows just fine even though this system has Nvidia drivers.

did you use 2 seperate pci cables. each cable is 150w.

you should also remove drivers prior to replacing a card not doing so can cause some issues.

bios update to latest.

The current bios version is f16d, I also ran DDU in Safe mode and removed the old drivers, although I'm still having the same issue

I am using separate pci cables, the 1080ti ran fine and I think that card uses more power. I also removed all the old driver using DDU. I guess my last option is a bios update

Okay so I have updated the bios to the latest version and still having the same issue. The 1080ti works fine with the new bios update. I have no idea what the issue could be now

So the issue was one of my NVMe drives did not seem to be compatible with the RX 9070. I have a HP EX950 M.2 512MB PCI-e Gen3 NVMe SSD and it would cause the issue, regardless of which M.2 slot it was in. I thought it was the windows install on the drive, but even after formatting the drive it would do the same thing. The drive also has a red indicator LED; this would not come on if the RX 9070 was in the PC. I tried a similar spec drive from a different brand, and it worked fine.
So something about the HP SSD and the RX 9070 not liking each other.
